Obituary:

With profound sadness that the Outland, Johnson, and Hoff families announce the death of our beloved relative, Edwin D. Outland, Sr. at 73 years old. This sad event occurred on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at Northside Hospital in Duluth, Georgia, USA. He was born on April 17, 1947 unto Joseph L. Outland, Sr. and Etta Richards in the Township of Virginia, Liberia. He obtained his high school diploma as an electronics technician from Booker T. Washington Technical Institute in Liberia. His college years in the United States were spent as a Business Administration Accounting major at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. His professional life spanned four decades: the seventies, eighties, nineties, and two thousands with his most productive employment tenure (26 years) happening at Allied Fluorescent Company in Providence, Rhode Island.

Edwin was a man of tremendous pride and high principles, applying common sense when dealing with people and life challenges; and he was always willingly to share his wit and life experiences with others. His home was an incubator to his siblings, extended family, and friends as they grappled with resettlement in the United States. Edwin was outgoing and enjoyed every leisure moment that life afforded. He was a loving husband to Irene (Jenneh Johnson) and fathered five children: Florence, Delano, Arnold (deceased), Rodney, and Andre. He was stepfather to Siaffa Jones and grandfather to ten. Edwin’s parents predeceased him: Mr. Joseph L. Outland, Sr. and Mrs. Annie Thorpe-Outland as well as his biological mother Miss Etta Richards. His younger brother, Arthur Outland, also just predeceased him three weeks ago.
