The Brewerville Civic Association is celebrating a major milestone: its 36th annual convention will be held in Brewerville, Liberia, for the first time. The U.S.-based non-profit, founded by Liberian immigrants, will host a week of festivities from October 19–26.

This year’s convention is significant for two reasons. First, it marks a homecoming for many
members who have been away from their birthplace for up to 50 years. Second, the organization will dedicate and turn over the Ellen Mills Scarborough Kindergarten Elementary (EMSKE) School to the Liberian Ministry of Education. This school is the association’s flagship project of the last two decades.
